The Rockin’ Tedeschi Trucks Band

The Tedeschi Trucks Band (TTB), formerly known as the Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi Band, is a jam and blues rock band that was founded in 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida. The band consists of the married couple, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, along with 11 other band members, including two drummers, horn section, and backup singers, something Duane Allman always wanted to do! The band was put together after the two decided to put their own solo careers on hold in order to make music together while simultaneously spending more time with each other on tour, and they love it and it shows!

Susan Tedeschi is the lead singer of TTB but was also a part of her own band called The Susan Tedeschi Band beforehand. She is an American blues and soul musician who has received multiple Grammy Award nominations.  She has also served as a judge for the 7th annual Independent Music Awards to support many new independent artists’ careers. As well as playing in the White House with many popular bluesman including; Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck , Warren Haynes and many others as quests of the “First Lady and our President”.

Derek Trucks, husband to Susan Tedeschi, was previously a guitarist and songwriter for the Allman Brothers Band but is now the guitarist in TTB. Trucks founded his own band called the Derek Trucks Band, before he became a part of the Grammy Award winning band, The Allman Brothers Band in 1999. His works lead him to appear twice in Rolling Stones list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”. He also played slide and lead guitar for Eric Clapton for an entire year. Starting touring at the age of 12!

The two individuals had a lot of success independently, but further on found out that they would receive even more popularity working together. In the summer, the two started touring together as the Soul Stew Revival in 2007. Quickly after on March 7, 2011 they announced that they were changing their name to the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Throughout making their transition into the new group, the couple carefully handpicked each new member. The two made sure to make up the band of only equally talented musicians who they thought would only elevate the band to a new level. Now that the band is completely together, they like to classify themselves as “one big happy family”.

The band has created three albums, all three have gone platinum. They released their first album on June 7, 2011 called “Revelator”. ” Revelator” won the band the Best Blues Album Grammy and a Blues Music Award for Album of the Year. Following closely was their second album, “Everybody’s Talkin”, (a live album) which was a double-disc set featuring Revelator as well as a carefully chosen plethora of cover versions. Lastly they came out with their third album which was called “Made Up Mind”. The band plays a righteous meld of rock, blues, gospel, New Orleans funk and Jam Music.
